Entertainment
22 February 2024Go on a bittersweet journey of healing through young love and big dreams with the newly confirmed series, Melo Movie. This project showcases the talents of Choi Woo-shik, Park Bo-young, Lee Jun-young, and Jeon So-nee, whose on-screen chemistry promises to captivate audiences worldwide.
At the creative forefront of Melo Movie are two of the industry’s most revered talents. Director Oh Choong-hwan, known for his magical touch on hits like Castaway Diva, Start-Up, and Hotel del Luna, teams up with writer Lee Na-eun, whose knack for developing captivating young love stories was evident in Our Beloved Summer. At its core, the series is about finding love and pursuing dreams, all while healing from past traumas. It’s also a blend of laughter and heartwarming moments, capturing the essence of youth in a way that’s both relatable and inspiring.
Choi Woo-shik (A Killer Paradox, Our Beloved Summer, Time to Hunt, Parasite) portrays film critic Ko Gyeom, whose life takes an interesting turn upon meeting Kim Mubee, played by Park Bo-young (Daily Dose of Sunshine, Strong Girl Bong-soon). Mubee, whose name sounds like "movie," is naturally curious about cinema and steps into the film industry out of a love-hate relationship with her father, who has always put film before her. The Ko Gyeom and Kim Mubee duo, with their contrasting personalities but common love for cinema, is set to be a focal point of the series.
Lee Jun-young (Mask Girl, D.P.) portrays Hong Si-jun, a composer convinced of his own genius, while Jeon So-nee (Our Blooming Youth, Soulmate) plays Son Ju-a, a screenwriter and Si-jun’s ex-girlfriend. Their stories weave into the main narrative, offering a richer perspective on the complexities of young adulthood.
With its compelling storyline, a powerhouse creative team, and an exceptional ensemble, Melo Movie is poised to be the next hit romance series.
